Transportation Technical Program Manager

This role requires effective project management skills and deep technical expertise. The TPM will be responsible for all aspects of technical requirements around software, technology needs/recommendations and internal database development/management for the Transportation Program. Key elements for success require collecting business and systems requirements from internal/external stakeholders and managing project management and technology standards with 3rd party vendors.

  • Represents the Transportation Program as the technology expert liaison between internal stakeholders and vendor partners
  • Supports with technology review, consultation of technical requirements, and development of data management models.
  • Collaborates with project teams to set up database, database interface, and production set-up.
  • Provide design specifications for database, including table layouts, indexes, and storage structures necessary to achieve team goals
  • Analyzes project needs, determines resources needed, and gives recommendations
  • Manages ongoing performance of the team's technology vendors and their deliverables.
  • Analyzes and has a holistic understanding of the overall scope of the transportation team's program to provide ongoing recommendations for consolidation, structure and interconnectivity of systems network
  • Ensures adherence to Amazon policies and acts as a point of contact for any technology issues

  • BA/BS in technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience working directly with technical engineering teams
  • 3+ years of technical program management experience
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience communicating effectively with remote team members and stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Experience devising and applying a metrics-based approach to measure service and program effectiveness and consistency
  • Experience executing and prioritizing work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Demonstrated verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information and concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with software platforms, platform-based apps, web services, APIs and UX
  • Previous experience querying and analyzing data using SQL based tools and Excel is strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to write effective documentation

  • Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles.
  • Ability to calculate complex figures
  • Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.
  • Requires analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact program elements.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • SmartSheet, Tableau and SharePoint experience.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
  • Must work well under pressure with multiple deadlines and demonstrate a proactive approach to routine and non-routine occurrences.
  • Able to work flexible work schedules based on business need
