Creates and distributes RDC Transportation reports, communicates with warehouse operations, transportation, Supply Chain Inventory Management (SCIM) and the National Inbound Transportation Center (NITC) to provide information and resolve issues.  Provides administrative support to the RDC Transportation Department, RDC Carrier Development Manager and provides reporting and administrative support to the Director and Senior Director, Transportation.


  • Communicate daily with guard shack, warehouse and corporate supply chain personnel to resolve issues as they occur.
  • Provide back up to Transportation Outbound Planner and Transportation Operations Associates (TOAs). 
  • Approve, build and tender operating company (opco) pallet returns as requested. 
  • Research opco or carrier issues and prepare reports for communication to the opco(s), carrier, management or other departments as needed.
  • Generate and distribute reports as required, including
    • Rail reports for Sysco Corporate and the RDC,
    • Weekly Inbound Summary Report,
    • New reports or forms to improve daily processes or provide needed information to opcos, SCIM, NITC, Carrier Development, or RDC teams,
    • Weekly, monthly, quarterly opco on-time delivery reports, and on an as needed basis, and
    • Other reports on an as-needed basis. 
  • Track Chep inventory and sorting processes to include:
    • Update Chep Portfolio website daily with outbound Chep counts for each opco.
    • Forward weekly Chep unloading information to the opcos.
    • Update Chep tracking sheet weekly and advise of any abnormalities. 
  • Assist in supplier and/or carrier claims research to prepare claims for filing. 
  • Administrative support to the Carrier Development Manager to include:
    • Review inbound carrier performance and gather additional data needed to address issues with carriers to improve on-time performance.
    • Report on and/or research carrier, supplier and lane data to get the best carrier service at the lowest possible cost. 
  • Administrative support to the Senior Director, Transportation and Director, Transportation as requested but to include:
    • Preparation of weekly dedicated carrier invoice reconciliations including the identification and communication of questions to be researched by the Director prior to approval.
    • Monitor dedicated carrier trailer tracking reports and advise of any concerns or issues as they occur.
  • Administrative support for the RDC Transportation Department to include:
    • Invoice carriers for reefer fuel usage and trailer swaps.  Track carrier payment status.
    • Communicate with carriers via email regarding seal discrepancies reported at check in.
    • Verify correct hazmat paperwork is received, and prepare paperwork for scanning.
    • Retrieve missing Outbound Load Forms (OLFs) for dedicated carriers.
    • Request missing Bill of Ladings (BOLs) from suppliers as requested by RDC Operations.
    • Track departmental supplies inventory, reorder as needed and approved.
  • Research and correct shipments in the Transportation Management System (TMS) for purchase orders (POs) which do not arrive on the scheduled truck; communicate discrepancies and/or resolutions to the warehouse, NITC and buyer.
  • Consolidate multi-temperature and opco UUCD (Unadopted Unitized Cross Dock/Freight Forward) orders into single shipments after loads have been closed in Warehouse Management (WM) using the TMS system.
  • Research and approve or deny RDC inbound detention requests for payment.
  • Work with carriers to schedule pick up appointments for outbound returns. 
  • Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, Code of Business Conduct & Ethics, Associate Handbook).
  • Comply with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e. OSHA, HACCP, AIB).
  • Must maintain data accuracy and integrity.
  • Must maintain accurate numerical, alphabetical or sequential filing systems.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Practice good communication skills (particularly critical in the phone etiquette area).
  • Report any unresolved issues to supervisor.
  • Observe all safety rules in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries and report any unsafe conditions to supervisor.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; or one year warehouse related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience with Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Outlook and Excel) required.


Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to read and write simple correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.  Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, visitors and outside contractors. 


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


Must be detail-oriented; possess emotional stability and objectivity, and the ability to see problems through to completion.  Must have good communication skills and be self-motivated.  Must also have the ability to prioritize work to ensure timely task completion.  Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.  Must have ability to deal with standardized situations with frequent variables.

This is a full-time position.  The incumbent must have the ability to work a varying schedule which might include shift work (days or nights), weekdays or weekends, and some holidays.  Work hours may vary or change based on customer order requirements, departmental requirements, and/or business needs.
